Braces stainless steel

TRADITIONAL (STAINLESS STEEL)
Braces vary in appearance. Traditional braces are made of stainless steal and attach to the cheek side of the teeth. These may or may not have colored elastic surrounding them. The braces are designed to enable the orthodontists to move teeth in a three dimensional manner.

Braces clear

PORCELAIN (CLEAR)
If you would love to have straighter teeth, but cringe at the thought of wearing metal braces with rubber bands, clear braces may be a perfect solution. These clear, nearly invisible braces are made of porcelain and attach to the cheek side of the teeth. They are designed to move teeth 3 dimensionally, while providing a camouflaged look.

Self Ligating

SELF-LIGATING

Self Ligating Braces are braces with brackets that do not need ligature ties or small rubber bands to hold the wire in place. These "speed braces" make achieving a healthy, beautiful smile easier than ever.

Benefits include:

  • Shorter appointments
  • Reduced treatment time
  • Fewer adjustments and less appointments
  • Greater comfort
  • Improved facial proportion and appearance

INVISALIGN®

Invisalign clear braces offer an incredible, virtually invisible alternative to traditional braces. With the Invisalign system, patients can discreetly straighten teeth and improve their smiles.

Dr. Batastini is certified by the Invisalign company to offer patients the convenience of straightening teeth with comfortable, clear, removable aligners. The computer-generated aligners are replaced every few weeks with a new set that moves the teeth gradually into proper alignment. These clear trays can easily be removed for eating and regular dental hygiene, include brushing and flossing.

Teeth move gradually, so patient visits are generally every 6 weeks and the treatment can range between 9-15 months based upon one's individual case. In the end, patients will have a beautiful, straighter smile without sacrificing comfort and appearance.

Each patient's case varies. As such, the team at Batastini Orthodontics carefully evaluates the best fixed appliance alternative in developing a personalized treatment plan.

RAPID PALATAL EXPANSION (RPE)

Palatal expansion with a fixed orthodontic device is used to widen the upper arch and to obtain room for tooth alignment. The RPE is manually adjusted with a specialized orthodontic tool as needed.

ORTHODONTIC HEADGEAR

Orthodontic headgear is a very important part of patient treatment in order to achieve the best possible corrective result.

The orthodontic headgear creates a special force to guide the growth of one's face and jaws. It also is used to improve the position of teeth or to prevent teeth from moving in an adverse manner.

For the best results, headgear must be worn on a regular basis and it is important to follow the instructions regarding the number of hours each day one should wear it. If headgear is not worn properly, treatment will take longer and the doctor's treatment plan may need to be altered which may even affect the final results.

KEYS TO SUCCESS:
1. Always be careful to remove orthodontic headgear as shown. If the headgear is removed carelessly, the part that fits in the mouth and attaches to teeth could injure a patient's cheeks, lips, face or eyes.

2. Never try to remove orthodontic headgear until the straps have been disconnected.

3. Never try to lift orthodontic headgear over the face.

4. Never wear orthodontic headgear when running or playing sports, including rough-and-tumble games.

5. Never allow anyone to grab or pull on orthodontic headgear. Brothers, sisters or friends who do not wear headgear may not understand the dangers involved, even in play.

Patients need to take proper care of their orthodontic headgear and bring it to every appointment. If it becomes soiled, a member of the Batastini Orthodontics team will illustrate how to clean it.

For the first few days of wearing orthodontic headgear, teeth may be tender or even slightly loose. This will disappear as teeth adjust to the new pressure. If the discomfort continues for more than a few days, please contact Batastini Orthodontics immediately.

Wearing orthodontic headgear may not be much fun, but it is necessary for treatment. Follow the instructions exactly and this part of the treatment plan will be finished soon. The short-term sacrifice will be well worth a lifetime filled with healthy beautiful smiles.

RUBBER BANDS

Elastics, or rubber bands, are often an important part of orthodontic treatment. They supply the pressure needed to move teeth and jaws into their correct position. To achieve the desired results, patients must carefully follow the instructions regarding their placement and use. Any time missed in wearing the rubber bands will result in an extended treatment timeline.

KEYS TO SUCCESS:
1. Patients are responsible for placing the elastics on braces between appointments and to wear them as instructed. Rubber bands are to be removed only when brushing one's teeth, gums and braces after meals. They should be put back in place immediately afterwards.

2. Patients should always have a few extra elastics on hand, so if one breaks, it can be replaced right away. Additional rubber bands are readily available simply call the Batastini Orthodontics office and we will mail a supply.

3. In the event that a patient misses a day of wearing the elastics, they are not to double the time worn on the next day. Instead, patients should follow their regular wearing instructions.

4. Elastics do get tired. When they lose their stretch, the rubber bands no longer provide proper pressure on teeth and jaws. It is very important for patients to change these elastics as directed even when they are not broken.

Elastics may cause teeth to hurt a little at first. That is because the teeth are moving as planned. Usually, this tenderness lasts only a few days but not wearing the rubber bands as instructed will only make the soreness last longer. Tooth movement will also require more time.

If you have any problems - like elastics breaking frequently, a wire or band loosening, or a hook breaking off - call Batastini Orthodontics immediately. These problems need to be corrected as soon as possible.

Remember, faithfully wearing rubber bands, following all instructions and keeping scheduled appointments is the quickest, easiest way to achieve a lifetime of healthy, beautiful smiles.

SPRING ALIGNERS

Spring aligners are used for anterior correction through minor rotation and resetting of the teeth. Depending on the individual case and how much rotation and force is needed, Batastini Orthodontics will select the appropriate spring aligner to direct the movement. In addition, spring aligners may be used for preventative maintenance, by returning relapsed or drifted teeth to their original finish.
